HYDERABAD: Book on petroleum geology

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Sept 28: A book, ‘Petroleum Geology and Hydrocarbon Prospects of Sindh – Pakistan’ jointly written by Dr Allah Dino Memon, former head of the Geology department at the University of Sindh and Professor Imdadullah Siddiqi, the faculty member at the university, has been launched.

The vice-chancellor of the university, Dr Mazharul Haq Siddiqi, was chief guest at the launching ceremony.

A large number of people, research scholars, teachers and students of Geology and other disciplines attended the function.

Mr Siddiqi appreciated the efforts of the authors and said that the book would help students and scholars to discover natural resources like oil and gas in the country.

He said that a good book was important to develop thought and it would be available to all students of the department and libraries.

The Pakistan Petroleum Limited senior manger exploration, Nusrat Kamal Siddiqi, said that exploration of the authors on Sindh monocline was interesting to read.

He said the scholars had explained the basic concepts of hydrocarbon in their book which would help hydro-geologists to explore it if the concepts of buoyancy and relative specific gravity of fluids were clear to them.
