Pickets check Bosan Gang operation

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 27: Police have set up pickets at the bank of the Indus river to control criminal activities of the alleged Bosan Gang in the district.

The pickets can be seen in Shero, Noorpur and Jakhar Imam Shah mauzas in the Kot Cchuta police station precinct. People of the area appreciated the efforts the police were making when DIG Hamayun Raza Shafi and DPO Salman Chaudhry visited the area.

They told the police higher-ups that the activities of the Bosan Gang had decreased after the setting up of the pickets.

ANTI-POLIO CAMPAIGN: The three-day anti-polio drive commenced in Dera Ghazi Khan and other parts of the campaign on Tuesday.

The district government will vaccinate 426,000 children for which 950 teams have been formed.

Chamber polls: The president and senior vice-president of chamber of commerce and industry were elected unopposed here on Tuesday.

Reports said Tuesday was the last day for the submission of papers and prominent industrialist Khwaja Mohammed Illyas submitted his papers for the top slot of the chamber and Shabaz Ali Khan Nasuha for senior vice-president.

Election commissioner Sheikh Muhammed Husain declared them elected unopposed as no one else filed papers.
