Conviction of Al-Jazeera correspondent condemned

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: Lawyers and journalists on Tuesday protested against the conviction of Al-Jazeera correspondent Tayseer Allouni by a Spanish court.

Mr Allouni was handed down seven-year sentence for interviewing Osama bin Laden and collaborating with al-Qaeda as a courier to transfer money to one poor Afghan family in Afghanistan.

The protesters gathered at China Chowk at 2.00 pm from where they moved towards parliament house. After demonstration, a delegation of journalists and lawyers reached the Spanish embassy to present a memorandum to the authorities.—Our Reporter
