KARACHI: Booksellers stage demo at KPC


KARACHI, Sept 27: A large number of booksellers from Urdu Bazaar held a protest demonstration in front of Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Tuesday against raids and arrest of some of their colleagues and demanded that they be allowed to do business freely.

Local police had raided some shops in Urdu Bazaar and arrested some shopkeepers for selling pirated versions of foreign publishers and violating intellectual property rights.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners against raids and arrests and demanded authorities to let them do business freely and take an action for saving future of local students.

Mr Nasim Ahmed of the Urdu Bazaar Traders’ Association leader demanded of the chief minister and governor to intervene and resolve the issue.—PPI
