LAHORE, Sept 26: Opposition-backed district nazim candidate Rana Mashhood has said his campaign has unnerved PML candidate Mian Amer while he has claimed to have a written support of over 1,500 councillors out of a total of 1,950.

Speaking at a meeting of the Lahore High Court Bar Association here on Monday, Rana Mashhood said he would not allow the government to rig the election. He said he would weed out corruption from the civic bodies, establish free dispensaries and ensure supply of clean drinking water to the people.

Addressing meetings during a visit to different union councils, Mian Amer said Lahore was the city of Muslim League and the people would not vote for anyone trying to make it a hostage of the People’s Party. He said all 1,500 councillors who had pledged support to him would vote for him openly.
