Inspector, two constables arrested
FAISALABAD, Sept 26: A special police team arrested on Monday suspended Inspector Jamshed Iqbal Chishti and constables Iqbal Farid and Muhammad Noor on charges of wrongful confinement of Sonia Naz’s husband, Asim Yousaf, his escape from the custody, wilful breach of duty and negligence.
They would be produced for physical remand before a court on Tuesday.
Sargodha Road police have registered a case under sections 343 and 225-A of the PPC and 155 (c) and (d) of the Police Order, 2002, against SP (investigation), on the directive of the chief minister, on the basis of findings of a one-man tribunal. The formal orders for the registration were issued by the IGP.
On the directive of police highups, the investigation of the case was entrusted to SP Tauqir Hayat. In preliminary investigation, police sources said, inspector Jamshed and his gunmen Iqbal Farid and Noor were also found involved in the case. SP Abdullah Khalid had already secured interim bail till Oct 1. He has not yet joined the investigation, sources said. — Staff Correspondent
