Two robbers killed in shootout

OKARA, Sept 26: Two highwaymen were killed in an encounter with police on the Chunian-Hujra Shah Muqeem Road here late Saturday night. Reports said four dacoits looted a cell phones shop on the Chunian-Hujra Shah Muqeem Road and shot at its owner, Ahmad, on resistance. They also snatched cash from a neighbouring tailor, Akram. Later, the bandits snatched a rifle from watchman Ali Sher and managed to flee.

On information, the Elite Force personnel chased the outlaws. The fleeing dacoits opened fire on the police which was retaliated. In an hour-long shootout, two of the dacoits sustained bullet injuries, but they managed their escape.

Later, one of them was found dead in a street of nearly Imdad Colony, while the other identified as Rashid in a deserted house of the colony. The police recovered one motorcycle, two cell phones, cash and a rifle from near the body of Rashid.

The police claimed that Rashid was wanted in many cases.
