KARACHI, Sept 26: The government will spend an amount of Rs5 billion in three years to train 300,000 persons to cater the needs of skilled manpower in the country. This was stated by Federal Communication Minister Mohammad Shamim Siddiqui, while speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of Defence Post Mall in Defence Phase-IV here on Monday.

The minister said that he would go to Malaysia along with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to discuss the matters regarding training of skilled manpower.

He said that such post malls would also be set up at town-level, as they would promote E-commerce, besides facilitating exchange of global communication through electronic and print media, thereby promoting parcel traffic and money transfers.

He said that there were 3,000 post offices inn the country, which could collect forms of NIC and passports from the general public and in this area the factor of training manpower could not be ignored. Mr Siddiqui said that in the communication sector, mega projects like Luwary Tunnel, M4, M5, M6 and M7 were the priority of government.—PPI
