KARACHI, Sept 26: Chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Mr Iftekhar Rasheed has said that the institution’s Council of Complaints, Sindh Region, has been assigned the task of inquiring into the complaints lodged by people against any programme aired or distributed by a broadcaster or a cable TV network, according to a press release.

He said here on Monday that the council would also recommend appropriate action against any party found guilty of violating the code of conduct. It would monitor at random all aspects of broadcast, including programme contents, quality of transmission, etc., and keep Pemra informed about the feedback and public response thereof, as well as quality and impact of programmes and advertisements.

The council is headed by Shahbaz Ali Malik (as Commissioner) and its other members are Raza Hashmi, Ghulam Nabi Morai, Teena Sani, Shehla Abbasi and Dr Imran Afzal.
