SEPANG, Sept 25: Italian Valentino Rossi won the MotoGP world championship for the fifth year in a row on Sunday after finishing second in the Malaysian Grand Prix. Rossi, finishing behind compatriot Loris Capirossi’s Ducati, joins Giacomo Agostini and Mick Doohan as the only riders to have won the premier class of grand prix racing five times or more.
Rossi needed to finish within 12 points of Max Biaggi, another Italian, to take the championship.—Reuters
