Spelling Bee contest

LAHORE, Sept 25: The second DAWN-In-Education Spelling Bee Competition begins from Monday (today) in Lahore. Some 52 schools from the Lahore region are participating in this three-day city championship round. The competition is going to be conducted in three age groups. Students of age group 9-11 years will compete on Sept 27, 2005. The contest for students of age groups 12-14 and 15-17 years will be conducted on Sept 28 and 29, respectively.

The national championship of all three age groups will be held on Oct 2, 2005 in Lahore, where the city champions from Lahore, Islamabad and

Karachi are going to compete for the national champion’s slot.

The Spelling Bee Competition is part of the DAWN-In-Education programme devised to expand children’s horizons beyond the classroom, and enhance their learning. The first DAWN Spelling Bee Competition was held in January-February early this year.—PR
