KARACHI, Sept 25: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Dr Hamida Khuhro has said that initiatives are needed to bring the outdated educational methods at par with those meeting the requirements of the 21st century.
Speaking at the convocation of the Fatemiya Educational Network at Bahria Auditorium on Sunday, she said quality education always played a paramount role in building future of nations.
“Everyone has to work for the development of modern thoughts of new generation which emphasize development of critical and creative thinking in the future generation.”
She said the government fully understood the importance of quality education and the study areas of technical and higher education that the nation needed urgently.
Dr Khuhro appreciated the FEN schools’ achievement of 100 per cent result and said the solid foundation would help the students to become good ambassadors of the country.
She also lauded the network’s youth exchange programme and health screening programme, and hoped that the institution, being developed for educational research and professional development.
Later, the minister distributed certificates and shields among brilliant students. She also gave away awards to Hameed Ali Bhojani, Dr Sadrudin, Prof Abbas Hussain, Prof Khalid Saadat, Tahir Javed, as well as two teachers Khalida Raza and Safia Riaz, in recognition of their services.
Prof Syed A. Aziz and Dr Abid Lakhani were among others who spoke on the occasion.—APP
