SANGHAR, Sept 25: Farmers of Khipro taluka have demanded that cotton ginning factories should install filters as they were spreading pollution and causing health problems. Speaking at the Khipro press club on Sunday, Mir Alam Mari, Niaz Ahmed Rajput and Abdul Rahim said the government and the Environmental Protection Agency were not paying attention towards increasing pollution and thousands of people were left at the mercy of ginners.

They criticized deduction of two to four kilograms of cotton from 40kg due to dust and demanded from the government to fix the price of cotton at Rs975 per 40kg.

They said the Kalabagh dam was a project to deprive Sindh of its water share and the people of Sindh would never accept it.

They demanded that silt be removed from the Khipro canal.—Correspondent
