KARACHI: Police asked to ensure smooth traffic flow
KARACHI, Sept 25: The Sindh Home Minister, Rauf Siddiqui, on Saturday directed traffic police officials to maintain smooth flow of vehicular traffic, and ensure that traffic rules were followed. Chairing a meeting of police officials at his office, Mr Siddiqui said that parking from Sohrab Goth to Tibet Centre must be prohibited from 8am to 2pm and from 5pm to 8pm besides ending double parking from throughout the city.
He said the growing problems of traffic in the city should be contained on priority basis, calling on TPOs to cooperate with the traffic police.
He took notice of traffic jams at Sohrab Goth, Water Pump, Karimabad, Liaquatabad, Teen Hatti, Jehangir Road, Gurumandir, Tibet Centre and other intersections, and ordered the DIG Traffic, Falak Khurshid, to increase the number of traffic cops at these places.
The minister instructed the DIG Traffic to remove encroachments on roads in Sohrab Goth, Liaquatabad, Jehangir Road and Tibet Centre for ensuring smooth traffic flow.
All section officers were also directed to immediately remove all blockages in their respective jurisdictions with the help of area police , saying the SHO and the SO of the concerned areas would be held responsible in case of any traffic jam.—PPI
