ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: Japan Self Defence Forces (JSDF) Joint Staff Council Chairman Gen Hajime Massaki visited the Naval Headquarters here on Saturday. Chief of the Naval Staff Designate Vice Admiral M. Afzal Tahir received him upon his arrival.

During their meeting, the two sides discussed various aspects relating to maritime affairs. Later, Gen Massaki was given a briefing on Pakistan Navy.

This is the first visit of the Japanese dignitary to Pakistan after his recent promotion as the chairman of Joint Staff Council.

Gen Massaki’s tour of Pakistan was preceded by a five-day visit to India where he held talks on improving military cooperation between the two countries.

APP adds: A 13-member delegation of UK Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), headed by Senior Directing Staff (Air) Air Vice Marshal Chisnall (Steve), visited the National Defence College here on Saturday.

The delegation took a round of different departments of the college and appreciated the standards of education being imparted by the college.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Chief of Army Staff Lt-Gen Martin Luther Agwai, currently on an official visit to Pakistan, visited the National Defence College on Saturday and met NDC Commandant Lt-Gen Shahid Hamid.

He remained with the NDC commandant for some time and discussed matters of professional interest.

The Nigerian army chief took a round of different departments of the college and appreciated the standards of education and training being imparted to the student officers.

Later, Lt-Gen Agwai visited the Heavy Industries Taxila and Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Wah.
