Misuse of funds: inquiry ordered

MIRPURKHAS, Sept 24: The Sindh local government commission has ordered an inquiry for misusing funds in the development schemes of Mirpurkhas Taluka Municipal Administration during the past four years.

The Digri TMO Abdul Sattar Qureshi was appointed an inquiry officer.

The official sources told Dawn on Thursday that the TMA officials were involved in corruption and the commission had received complaints against them.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Mirpurkhas, and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) were inquiring about the matter.

WITHDRAWAL: Two candidates for the district nazim withdrew from the contest on Wednesday, leaving six candidates in the hunt for the post.

Abdul Saeed Qureshi and Zahid Mari of the Khushhal Pakistan Panel pulled out of the competition.

The remaining contesting candidates are Fazal Illahi Memon, Jameel Ahmed Bhurgari, Dr Sughra, Asad Ali Junejo, Pir Hassan Ali Shah and Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah.

Hesco: The general secretary of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union, Mirpurkhas division, Abdul Karim has expressed concern over baseless inquiries against the Hesco officials from Mirpurkhas.

In a press statement issued here he said that the authorities ordered an inquiry against the officials on false complaints.
