DCO, police officials asked to appear before court

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Sept 24: The Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge of Hyderabad here on Saturday directed the DPO operations and DCO Tando Mohammad Khan to appear in person on separate applications of PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel candidates for district and taluka nazims of Tando Mohammad Khan and other talukas.

Police officials, including the TPO of Tando Mohammad Khan , Mukhtiarkar Bulri Shah Karim and three SHOs, appeared in person before the court and filed affidavit that they had not harassed the applicants and would not harass them in future.

The court adjourned the matter till Tuesday with directives to the DPO and the DCO to be present in the court.

Advocate Miran Mohammad Shah represented the ADP candidate for district nazim of Tando Mohammad Khan, Syed Mohsin Shah Bukhari, and Fazal Ahmed Nizamani for the taluka nazim of Tando Mohammad Khan and Mohammad Khan Chang for the taluka nazim of Tando Ghulam Hyder.

The court had earlier directed the DPO, the DCO and other police officials to attend the court on Saturday personally and respond to charges of applicants. But the DPO and the DCO did not attend the court.

The counsel argued that councillors of ADP were being harassed and their homes were being raided at the instance of the adviser of the Sindh chief minister, Mir Ali Nawaz Talpur, and his uncle Mir Ejaz Talpur in order to harass ADP councillors.

He said that councillors and their relatives had been arrested by police in talukas of Tando Ghulam Hyder and Tando Mohammad Khan.

He said that respondent officials were running election campaign of the government backed candidate, Mir Inayat Talpur, and harassing applicants and their supporters.
