Carla whitewashes Iranian Fatimeh


ISLAMABAD, Sept 2: Pakistani top seed Carla Khan toyed with Iranian wild-card Fatimeh Heidary as she won her match without dropping a game in the squash competitions of 4th Women Islamic Games in Tehran, according to reports available one Friday.

Carla will not Japan’s Chinatsu Matsui in the quarterfinal.

Pakistan is featuring in 11 disciplines at the 4th Women Islamic Games in Tehran (Iran).

Carla beat Fatimeh Heidary 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 as Pakistan’s two other players Muqaddas Ashraf and Maria Toor went down fighting to their Malaysian rivals in the pre-quarters.

The 14-year-old Maria put up a spirited fight against Lim Yoke Wah. Maria led the match 2-1 at one point but then her unforced errors led Lim to win 3-2 in a 48-minute encounter.

Muqaddas was beaten 1-3 by experienced Delia Arnold in a 55 minute battle.

Quarterfinal fixtures: Carla Khan (Pak) vs. Chinatsu Matsui (Jpn), Delia Arnold (Mas) vs. Lim Yoke Wah, Siti Joseph (Mas) vs. Sarah Kippax (Eng), Sally Looi (Mas) vs. Tricia Chuah (Mas).
