LAHORE, Sept 23: The PML-N, the PPP and the MMA organized a joint demonstration outside the Muslim Masjid, Lohari Gate, on Friday against the alleged rigging in local elections, the dictatorial system and the skyrocketing prices, saying the event marked the beginning of a movement against the rulers.

The participants, holding banners and placards, raised slogans against the rulers. They were also wearing arm bands.

PML-N leaders Saad Rafiq, Zaeem Qadri, Pervaiz Malik, Rana Mashhood, PPP’s Haji Azizur Rahman Chan, Sohail Malik and MMA’s Amirul Azeem were prominent among the demonstrators.

Addressing the protesters, Saad Rafiq said bleak was the future of those who were promoting friendship with the enemies of Islam at the cost of religious forces.

Mr Chan said the opposition parties were united against dictatorship, and they would continue their struggle.

ISRAEL ISSUE: Jamaat al-Dawa amir Hafiz Mohammad Saeed says recognizing Israel is a religious not a political issue, and the Holy Quran doesn’t allow Muslims to have ties with Jews.

In a statement here, he said the rulers were more keen on pleasing the United States.

SHAHBAZ: The PML-N leaders and workers on Friday celebrated the 55th birthday of their leader, Shahbaz Sharif.

They cut a cake at the Shahbaz Sharif secretariat, and paid tributes to the exiled leader who has been living in London for the past several months.
