KARACHI: Man shot dead

KARACHI, Sept 23: A man was shot dead by unknown persons in Surjani Town Friday morning.

Police said Idrees, 25, was standing at the bus stop in Sector 5-D when a motorcyclist approached him and started talking. Shortly after, the motorcyclist shot Idrees and fled.

The young man was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead .

ACCIDENT: Additional SHO of Chakiwara police station died in a road accident at Fresco Chowk late Thursday night.

Police said Imtiaz Siddiqui, 40, was on his motorcycle when a speeding coach knocked him down. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police arrested the coach’s driver and impounded the vehicle. The victim was said to be headed for his home in Gizri police line.

CRUSHED: A young man died and his friend was wounded when they were hit by a locomotive at Drigh Station on Friday. Police said Sikandar Ali, 23, had come to the city on Khyber Mail.

He and his friend Sohail were trying to cross the rail tracks before an approaching train when they got hit by the train.

Sikandar died on the spot and Sohail was shifted to the JPMC for treatment.
