Over Rs1m looted in 3 incidents

RAWALPINDI, Sept 22: Robbers looted over Rs1.2 million in three separate incidents in different parts of Rawalpindi, police said on Thursday. Four of the robbers have been identified by a victim as police officials, police sources said.

In the first incident, three robbers entered the house of Irfan Shafqat in Gulzar-i-Quaid and held his family hostage at gunpoint. The robbers looted Rs11,83500 and escaped after locking the inmates in a room.

Syed Majid Hussain, another robbery victim, lodged a complaint with the New Town police stating that three persons forced their entry into his house in Satellite Town and looted Rs21,000 in cash, gold ornaments and a mobile phone after taking his family hostage at gunpoint.

Javaid Hussain, an employee of defence ministry, lodged a complaint with the Cantonment police stating that he was going home from his office at night when four persons blocked his way near Poonch House. In the meantime, four more persons clad in police uniform also appeared there and caught hold of him.

The victim said the culprits snatched Rs8,000 and a mobile phone from him and escaped.

The accused persons have been identified by the complainant as Nomi, Multani, Sarfaraz and Akbar, ASI Riaz and head- constables Sikandar, Khizar Hayat and Abdur Rehman.

Meanwhile, two cars were stolen by auto-thieves from different parts of Rawalpindi.

Mohsin-ul-Hasnain’s car (RLA-4087) was stolen from Chaklala, while Muhammad Fiaz’s car (HA-970) was lifted from outside his house in Saddar Barooni area.
