Sardar spins Sarhad Academy to win


PESHAWAR, Sept 20: Right-arm spinner Sardar Ali spun Sarhad Academy to six wickets victory over CPC Rawalpindi in the 1st All-Pakistan Inter-academy cricket tournament at Arbab Niaz Stadium on Tuesday. CPC Rawalpindi collapsed on 129 runs all out in 36.4 overs of the allotted 40 overs, after Sarhad Academy skipper Salih Muhammad invited them to bat first.

Middle-order batsman, Muhammad Sarfaraz managed 26 off 30 balls with two boundaries. Tousif Hussain hit 19 off 41 balls, Waqas Sheikh not-out on 11 and Junaid (11) were the other run-getters.

Off-spinner Sardar Ali played a key role in restricting CPC by claiming five wickets for only 14 runs. Zohaibullah and Salih Muhammad took two wickets each for 27 and 22 runs, respectively.

In reply, Sarhad Academy achieved the target for the loss of four wickets in 26.3 overs. Top-order Saifullah hammered 64 off 62 balls with 10 boundaries. Adnan Khan with 22 off 49 balls, Mukaram Khan 16 and Muhammad Hamza not out on 14 were the other scorers.

Muhammad Sheikh picked two wickets and Yasir Nazir and Waqas Wajid grabbed one wicket each.—APP
