Six TMA officials held for power theft

VEHARI, Sept 20: Six TMA officials were caught red-handed while stealing electricity from its main and Madina water works poles here on Tuesday. On a tip-off, a TMA team, headed by chief officer Muhammad Bukhsh Ansari, raided the houses of SDO (engineering branch) Muhammad Shahid Saleemi, tubewell operator Muhammad Ashiq, Abdul Hameed and Muhammad Ishaq and disconnected their supply.

The team recovered a big quantity of wire and other related material from their possession. The officials had been stealing electricity for the last four years. Notices have been issued to them for the recovery of fine.

On another tip-off, the team conducted a raid and caught red-handed light superintendent Mohammad Bashir and lineman M.Anwer for stealing power from the main pole at Madina water works.

Power supply had been provided to a nearby basketball ground for the last two years from the water works.
