KARACHI, Sept 20: A fully operational fire station, established at the Submarine Chowrangi, is working round the clock under the DHA to respond to any untoward/emergency situation arising out of any fire incident in the localities of the DHA and Clifton Cantt Board (CCB).
According to a DHA press release issued on Tuesday, there were two modern fully equipped fire tenders of the DHA and one of the CCB to efficiently combat any fire accident in the areas.
There is also an additional fire tender of the DHA located at the DA Marina Club in Defence Phase-VIII.
All these fire-extinguishing engines do respond promptly to any incident of outbreak of fire in the DHA and the CCB areas, and even outside when required.
The DHA authorities said that a report appearing in some sections of the press alleged that there was no fire fighting arrangement in the DHA to fight the outbreak of fire. And, the claim that a fire station at the Submarine Chowk under arrangements of the DHA was merely on paper was totally incorrect and contrary to facts.
“In 2005, the DHA fire tenders successfully combated 59 cases of fire outbreak in the DHA and Clifton successfully.
The press release further said that on the night of Sept 17, 2005, a fire broke out at the Village Restaurant, which soon engulfed the entire area.
“The DHA vigilance got the news of the fire at 0210 hours, and at 0225 hours, the DHA’s fire tender was the first to reach the site, spearheading efforts to extinguish the fire.”
It reiterated that the DHA was committed to providing quality living conditions and safety environments to its residents.—PPI
