GUJRANWALA, Sept 19: The district and sessions judge Mazhar Hussain Minhas has summoned district jail superintendent and his deputy on Sept 26 on a petition of a woman who said that the two officials were torturing her son in jail.

Sardar Bibi pleaded that Aroop police arrested Dilawar after implicating him in various cases and sent him to jail where the superintendent and deputy superintendent were torturing him.

REMAND: The local anti-terrorism court No 1 extended the judicial remand of main accused Iqbal alias Qatli of Ferozewala and his accomplices for seven days following their involvement in firing and injuring their rivals over an election row here on Monday.

Inter-school sports: The inter-school sports competition in connection with the Chief Minister Cup 2005 will be held in all schools of the province from Sept 26 to 28.

Each position-holder school will be given a hefty sum in reward, says Punjab sports secretary Muhammad Arshed Bhatti. Speaking at a meeting held here on Monday, he pointed out that football matches between Pakistan and India would be held from Sept 21 to 27 in which players of both Punjabs would participate.
