KARACHI: Filthy water inundates major intersection

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 19: Filthy water gushing out of choked gutters has spread all around the major intersection housing the D.J. Science College and S.M. Law College, causing inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians, besides creating unhygienic atmosphere with foul smell in the entire locality.

The busy roundabout, through which a large number of vehicles pass day and night, connects four major arteries — Mohammad Bin Qasim Road (formerly Burnes Road), Haqqani Chowk, I. I. Chundrigar Road and Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road. After literally turning into a pool of filthy water, access to all these roads has become very difficult, and this has greatly hindered the flow of vehicular traffic.

Some speeding vehicles are seen splashing filthy water and spraying other vehicles and passers-by with mud and filth. Pedestrians have no choice but to wade through the muddy water.

Residents of the locality have complained that the problem of overflowing gutters was a chronic one but despite their hectic efforts to get the fault rectified by the KWSB, no measures had so far been taken in this regard.
