Munir grabs pro event, Ejaz lifts trophy

RAWALPINDI, Sept 18: PTCL’s Muhammad Munir won professional event of the COAS open golf championship with a three-round score of three-under 213 at Rawalpindi Golf Course on Sunday. The host club’s Ejaz Hussain Qureshi lifted the title trophy with a net score of 219 in the main amateur event while AVM Abbas Mirza of Islamabad Golf Club was runner-up with 226.

Munir and Navy’s Shabbir Iqbal (four-under 212) will now leave for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Oct 2 to represent Pakistan in the World Cup starting there on Oct 6.

Though Shabbir played a superb third round of two-under, he ultimately lost by one stroke to Munir.

Munir received Rs72,000 prize money while Shabbir had to be content with runner-up prize of Rs49,000.
