15 nazims return unopposed

QUETTA, Sept 18: Two district and 13 tehsil nazims have been elected unopposed in Balochistan in the third phase of local body polls, official sources said on Sunday. The sources said that Jam Kamal of Lasbela district and Mir Khalid Magsi of Jhal Magsi district had been returned unopposed because nobody filed nomination papers against them.

According to reports Mir Mohammad Kazim Bugti had also been elected unopposed as nazim of Dera Bugti district, but official sources could not confirm this.

The sources said that 13 other candidates had also been elected unopposed for the posts of tehsil nazims in Kahan and Mewand (District Kohlu), Dera Bugti and Sui (Dera Bugti district), Usta Mohammad and Gandakha (Jaffarabad district), Jhal Magsi and Gandawa (Jhal Magsi district), Washak of Washak district, Dureji of Lasbela district, Ormara of Gwadar district, Sanni of Bolan district and Lehri of Sibi district.

The sources said that 27 women had returned unopposed in 28 districts of Balochistan, while in the tehsil councils 12 women had been declared elected unopposed on the seats reserved for women.

On the reserved seats for peasants and workers in the district councils three candidates returned unopposed while in the tehsil councils nine candidates had been elected unopposed.
