HYDERABAD: Plea to restore peace in varsities

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Sept 18: Activists of the Sindhi Shagird Tehrik observed a hunger strike outside the press club here on Sunday to protest against lawlessness in the Sindh Agriculture University and the University of Sindh. Speaking on the occasion, central leaders of the SST, Sohail Channar, Kamran Lakho and Nazeer Rajpar accused the government of destroying educational institutions of Sindh.

They said the interference of Rangers had disturbed the academic atmosphere of the universities.

They said presence of law-enforcement agencies on the campus had created harassment among students.

The student leaders said the real culprits who created chaos on the campus disappeared from the scene and the security agencies took control of the institutions.

They said similar situation was prevailing in the Liaquat Medical University where the administration was patronizing hooligans.

The students demanded that academic activities be restored, troublemakers be arreted and Sindhi students be given admission to the educational institutions of Karachi.
