KARACHI: Ibad vows to retrieve every inch of grabbed land

KARACHI, Sept 18: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that every inch of Karachi’s encroached upon lands will be retrieved and the city’s face will be changed in just six months as the candidate for city nazim is a young and more energetic person.

Addressing a ceremony on the occasion of the foundation-stone laying ceremony of Terrace Garden at Nazara Gah, Clifton, and later talking to newsmen during a visit to the Frere Hall on Saturday, he said that people of the entire province were equal and should not be discriminated upon on any grounds. He said he would continue to focus on resolving problems of the population of interior Sindh.

He hoped that the new CDGK leadership would be able to accelerate the pace of uplift activities.

He observed that Nazara Gah had a historical background, but sadly due to encroachments, it had lost its due status. Now with the participation of private sector, its past glories would be revived, he added.

He said it was among the government’s priorities that every inch of land in Karachi be retrieved from the clutches of land-grabbers. It was in this regard, he pointed out, that revival of historical places like Jehangir Kothari Parade and Bagh Ibn-i-Qasim had been initiated. Besides, a four-kilometre coastline was being developed and the work would be completed by the end of this year, he said.

He predicted that in next six months, Karachi would be made a model city by initiating new uplift and welfare projects. —PPI
