Governor assures support for cricket

PESHAWAR, Sept 17: The NWFP Governor Mr. Khalilur Rehman has assured all out support for promotion of cricket in the province and Fata at the grassroots level.

He was talking to the members of the Government High School Nanakpura, Peshawar City, cricket team which won National Inter-school Championship.

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mr. Shaharyar Khan while speaking on the occasion said that the PCB for the first time arranged a national level championship between schools to develop cricket at grassroots level. He was pleased that the championship was won by a Peshawar school which he said was yet another achievement in the field of cricket.

The Governor while congratulating the players said, “you have done a commendable job; we are proud of you”.

The Governor said that sports facilities in the province as well as Fata were being improved to provide equal opportunities to the youngsters to prove their worth and talent.
