KARACHI, Sept 17: Four-year old chestnut, Lucky Golden, is tipped to perform a hat trick when the Summer Gymkhana race meeting gets underway at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Lucky Golden had won two back-to-back races with jockey M. Wasim II in the saddle. After his triumph in Div IV-B in the first meeting of this month, he was promoted to the higher cadre, Div III where as justified his billing last week.
Owned by Qazi Asif and trained by Shoukat Ali, Lucky Golden start as our days’ best and fancy to perform hat trick. Again promoted to Div II, he will be up against eleven contenders in the five furlongs third race of the afternoon.
His opposition will come from six-year old bay horse, Silver City, who was piloted home by jockey S. Khan on Sept 4 and half-bred Order Of The Day, who settled for a place last week.
In all, seven races are on card for the days’ programme with first race starting at 1.30 pm.
Seven-year old mare, Dushtiyani who failed to come up to the mark in the last meeting, should make amends and cross the winning post ahead of other opponent’s in the first race. He would be chased by six-year old, Sea Biscuit.
Chestnut, Lucky Five, who had a bad run last week, is poised to stole limelight in the second race that features eight horses. Queen Of Arab and Silver sweet should battle it out for places.
The fourth race which had a field of eighteen aspirants should saw half-bred Chand Aya making amends for its last defeat at the hands of Greek Baran last month. Seven-year old mare, Tom Cruise, and three-year old filly, Jet Zone, will pose main opposition to Chand Aya.
Six-year old Lady Freedom should dominate the fifth race where fourteen horses would vie for top honours. Considering her current form and fitness, she is fancy to cross the winning post ahead of other contestants.
Three-year old filly, Voo Doo Doll, and four-year old colt, Fantastic Again, should settle for places.
Four-year old colt Blue Breeze should live up to his reputation in the fifth race which will be run over a distance of six furlongs. Half-bred horse, Gullu”s Government, and three-year old colt, Arab Hi Arab, were favourite for places.
