LAHORE, Sept 16: Acting president Mohammadmian Soomro met PML president Shujaat Husain and Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi at their residence here on Friday and discussed with them national issues as well as development projects.

A handout quoted the PML president as saying that all issues related to the local elections were being resolved with mutual consultation and understanding, and it had been ensured that there should be a complete harmony among assembly members, district government candidates and other political elements.

The chief minister said the first two phases of the elections had been completed in a peaceful and orderly manner. The new district governments, he said, would effectively solve the problems of the people at the local level.

He said devolution of power had provided relief to the people. The provincial assembly had undertaken record legislation, and its members were playing their due parliamentary role by taking keen interest in all stages of legislation.

The acting president said completion of welfare projects through interaction between the federal and provincial governments was a matter of satisfaction.
