SUKKUR, Sept 16: The Hindu community of Jacobabad observed a shutter-down strike on the second consecutive day on Friday in protest against kidnapping of Hindu girl Sapna two days back.

The Hindu community of the city also took out a procession. Hindu Panchayat president Baboo Mahesh Kumar warned that if Sapna was not recovered then strong protest movement would be launched in the district.

Meanwhile, a meeting of religious parties was held and attended by JUI leaders Maulana Deedar Lashari, Shah Mohammad Shah, Fida Mohammad, Dr A.G. Ansari and Hafiz Mir Mohammad Banglani.

Dr Ansari said Sapna had embraced Islam and married with Shamsuddin alias Shaman. Sapna whose Islamic name is Mehak, talking to Jacobabad-based journalists on phone, said she left her house with her own free will and no one kidnapped her. She said she embraced Islam with her own free will and married to Shamsuddin according to the Shariah.—BoC
