Tehran offers N-technology to Muslim countries

TEHRAN, Sept 15: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday his country was ready to share its nuclear technology with Muslim nations. The president made the offer on the sidelines of the United Nations summit in New York during bilateral talks with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.

“Iranian scientists have mastered the fuel cycle and we have clearly decided to peacefully use this technology within the framework of the NPT (non-proliferation treaty), international laws and in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” he said.—AFP

Our Correspondent in New York adds: The Iranian leader said his country would present ‘new proposals’ shortly to break the impasse with US and European nations. He warned the United Nations that taking punitive measures over intentions rather than actions contradicts the principles of the UN.

Mr Mahmoud asked UN member states not to bend to pressure from the United States.
