Spinners steal limelight

KARACHI, Sept 15: Spinners dominated the second and final day of the fourth round Karachi region matches in the PCB Inter-district Senior Cricket Championship on Thursday. Off-spinners Mansoor Khan (5-20) and Tahir Khan (3-14) bowled Liaquatabad-Gulshan Zone to a crushing 117-run win over North Nazimabad-Orangi Zone. Resuming at 55 for four, North Nazimabad-Orangi Zone folded up for 117 in the 56th over.

Faraz A. Khan and his spinning partner Shahmir Khattak shared nine wickets between as Federal ‘B’ Area-New Karachi Zone outclassed Landhi-Korangi Zone by 152 runs. Landhi-Korangi Zone mustered just 132 while chasing a target of 285.

Our Sports Reporter adds from Islamabad: Mianwali completed a convincing 275-run victory over Jhelum in the Rawalpindi region fixture at the ARL Ground.

After Mianwali had posted 520-8 on Wednesday, Jhelum fell for 245 in reply after resuming their innings at the overnight score of 6-2 on the second and last day.

Jhelum were restricted by paceman Masoodur Rahman who took 4-34.

Gibran Azam made 51.
