PESHAWAR, Sept 15: NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq has said Pakistan can achieve the goal of prosperity only when the nation trusts its own talent and instead of looking at others, work hard making use of its own human and material resources.
“Our worldly and eternal success shall be guaranteed if we make Islamic heroes and not film stars our ideals,” he said, adding that Hazrat Fatima (RA) could be a role model for Muslim women and Tipu Sultan for men, who taught them that living like a lion for a single day was better than the 100-year life of a jackal.
He was speaking at the Pakistan-UK Excellence Award distribution ceremony at Liaquat Hall in Rawalpindi.
The ceremony was attended by people from different walks of life, including legislators and members of the Christian community.
The minister said it was the need of the hour to present the real image of Islam, which stood for global peace and spiritual satisfaction, across the world.
He called upon the nation to uphold sacrifices of martyrs of the Pakistan Movement and ensure enforcement of Islamic ideology in the country.
He gave away awards to a nmber of people, including MNAs Maulana Ghulam Mohammad Sadiq and Robina Qaimkhani, minority leader J. Salik and Professor Arif Mirza.
Kamal Azfar, resident of the Islamabad Press Club and Union of Journalists, refused to receive his award unless the Seventh Wage Board Award for newspaper employees was implemented.—PPI
