Sisters’ killers show no remorse

SANGHAR, Sept 15: The alleged killers of three sisters have confessed to have killed Shumaila, Asma and Uzma to save the family honour. The confession was made by the accused before newsmen at a press briefing at the DPO office here on Thursday.

Accused Asif and Munir alleged that Shumaila and Asma had illicit relations with their step-father Mehmood and added that Uzma, 11, was killed because she had relations with step-brother Amanullah.

The accused Asif, brother of the slain girls, and Munir, husband of Asma, also admitted that they were planning to kill Bashiran, mother of Asif, Kalsoom, sister, and Mehmood but they were arrested before they could carry out the plan.

They said they had no remorse and were satisfied because the honour of the family was saved and no one would call them “Beghairat.”

DPO Ajmal Magsi said that after committing the crime the accused went to Lodhran and then Lahore by bus. At Lahore they were staying at the shrine of Data Saheb or at the garden of Minar-i-Pakistan.

It may be recalled here that on Sept 8, Shumaila alias Samina and Uzma were hanged here at Shahanshah Colony and Asma was slaughtered in Chak-23 after an hour of the first incident. Shumaila was pregnant.

The DPO said that the investigation is still going on and if other people were involved in the case, they would also be arrested.
