JACOBABAD, Sept 15: On the call of the Hindu Panchayat, a complete strike was observed in the city on Thursday in protest against kidnapping of young Hindu girl Sapna. Thousands of people, both Hindus and Muslims, took out a procession from the Hindu General Panchayat hall and demanded that the girl be immediately recovered.

Baboo Mahesh Kumar, president of the Hindu General Panchayat, led the protesters.

The protesters after passing through different roads reached the airport to meet Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim.

A heavy contingent of police reached the place and tried to stop the mob.

Police resorted to baton charge and tear gas shelling, injuring Parkash, Gyanchand, Viky Kumar and Ajit Kumar.

Later, the protesters blocked the National Highway and burnt tyres.

As a result, hundreds of vehicles from Sindh and Balochistan were stopped for two hours.

A heavy contingent of police reached the spot.

The protesters raised slogans against TPO Khuda Bux.

MNA Mir Aijaz Jakhrani assured the protesters that their demands would be accepted. The protesters dispersed peacefully.
