QUETTA, Sept 14: A man was killed and two others were seriously injured in an explosion in a seminary in a village in Pishin on Wednesday. “The man killed in the blast was blown into pieces,” Pishin District Coordination Officer Asmatullah Kakar told Dawn on telephone, adding that the deceased and the injured were Afghans.

The three victims were staying in a room of the madressah of Maulana Abdul Sattar in Semizai village when the bomb exploded.

They had arrived at the seminary on Wednesday.

“The blast took place in a bag brought by these people with them,” levies sources said, adding that another bag full of explosive material had been found in the room.

Sources said a device might have exploded when the three men were trying to fix a timer in it.

“Investigation is under way to ascertain the intentions of the victims,” the sources said, adding that they might be Taliban.
