LAHORE, Sept 14: Army’s Miraj Din halted Wapda’s winning streak by capturing gold medal in 81 kg class in the national ranking judo championships at the National Sports Training and Coaching Centre on Wednesday. Miraj’s victory gave Army second gold medal against , Wapda who so far captured four golds. Miraj won five bouts out of total six he fought.
He lost to Amjad Ali in the last fight. However, he defeated Muhammad Nazir, Saeed Akhtar, Tanvir, Khalid and Ashiq Hussain.
Saeed Akhter claimed the silver medal while Ashiq Hussain seized the bronze.
The competitions is being held under the supervision of Iranian coach Muhammad Yeyhan and the best players would be picked to represent the country in the next SAF Games to be held in Sri Lanka next year.
