KARACHI: Pre-medical placement list issued: Male candidates

KARACHI, Sept 14: The central admission committee for first year classes in colleges on Wednesday released another list of 4,191 male candidates selected and placed for admission, on the basis of merit, to the pre-medical faculty at 50 government colleges and higher secondary schools in the city.

According to Prof Mohammad Rais Alvi, the Executive District Officer (Higher Education) of the city government, the admission data reveals that the interest of students in the pre-medical group has increased. He added that merit had considerably increased at almost all colleges.

The District Officer (Colleges), Prof Mohammad Asghar Khan, told Dawn that about 4,800 male students had applied for pre-medical admissions and those who had not been listed would now be accommodated in the commerce faculty.

He advised the selected students to finalize their admissions within seven days, while college principals had also been told to start pre-medical teaching for male students within seven days.

He said that teaching for first year students of Home Economics and Science General (Computer Science) had already begun, while classes of pre-engineering (male) would start within a couple of days.

He said that students who were not satisfied with their placement could get and submit claim forms from 13 branches of the HBL including in Clifton, Drigh Colony No-1, Garden, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Hasan Square, Korangi No-4, Malir City, New Karachi, Orangi Town, Rizvia Society, Mansfield Street, Sakhi Hasan and Sher Shah.

Admission to the Adamjee Science College was closed at 727 marks, while last year it closed at 729. In the case of the DJ Science College and the Delhi College, admissions closed at 682 and 674 marks respectively, while the cut-off marks in both these colleges last year were 680 and 660 respectively.
