LAHORE, Sept 13: S M Sibtain and Javed Chotani were declared president and secretary of Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) on Tuesday after the court, which had stayed announcement of polls following a dispute over nominations, rejected the complainants’ plea.
A Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) press release says, “The POA after receipt of the court judgment is therefore declaring the election results of PTTF.”
The PTTF, in accordance with constitution, had announced elections in 2003, which were stayed by court after a candidate blamed wrongdoing in nominations made by some affiliated units.
The POA, later, formed an ad hoc committee with S H Shah and S M Sibtain as members to resolve the dispute, but the effort came to a halt after the latter tresigned in 2004.
The association, after taking into confidence former president S H Shah, held elections on June 10, 2005. But neither did he attend the PTTF’s election meeting nor did he send his nomination for the office of president as required under constitution.
Office-bearers: S M Sibtain (president), Muhammad Riaz Ahmed (senior-vice-president), Irshad Syed, Naveed Khan, Khalid Mahmood (vice-presidents), Kifayatullah (treasurer), Javed Chotani (secretary), Hafeezullah Khan (senior associate secretary), Saleem Ahmed Sheikh, Kamran Naseer (associate secretaries), Mifta Ismail, Ahmad Nawaz, Ashfaq Bangush, M Abdul Raheem Gran, Attaullah, S Saadullah (members executive committee).
