KARACHI, Sept 13: There was no let-up for the KESC consumers in many parts of the city as the utility continued frequent power shutdowns, while complaints remained unattended to in many areas.
The damaged transmission tower in Bin Qasim area occupied the utility’s attention. Chief Engineer (Distribution and Development) Khalid Iqbal visited the site to assess the situation, but no foreign expert visited the site.
Meanwhile, the residents complained of frequent power outages during the night as well as during the day.
According to Mr Imtiazul Huda of the Concern Citizens, about a million residents of North Karachi were without power supply since 4.30 in the afternoon. The worst hit were sectors 11 C-3 and 11 C-2.
According to area residents, snapped wires remained unattended to in the 11 C-3 main market and on the main road in 11 C-2.
According to Mr Huda, the KESC complaint centres were not responding to frantic telephone calls from consumers.
Power outage complaints from Landhi and Korangi areas were also rampant. Resident said that power supply continued hide and seek the whole day.
Other areas that suffered from load-shedding included the Federal B Area, North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, and Clifton.
