KARACHI: Mustafa Kamal files papers for nazim’s slot

KARACHI, Sept 12: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has nominated Syed Mustafa Kamal as its candidate for the post of Karachi nazim, it is learnt. The Sindh Minister for Information Technology filed his nomination papers on Monday on behalf of the Haq parast group, sources said.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan People’s Party on Monday announced names of Awam Dost candidates for nazims’ slots in Keamari, Bin Qasim and Gadap towns. The names were announced by PPP’s Sindh chapter president Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

According to a statement issued here on Monday, the names have been approved by PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

Zulfikar Yunus has been nominated as a candidate for the post of nazim of Keamari Town, while Arif Jadoon would be his deputy and Arif Baloch as a covering candidate.

Ghulam Murtaza Baloch has been named as candidate for nazim’s slot in Gadap Town, with Saleem Memon for naib nazim. For Bin Qasim Town, Umar Jatt and Ishtiaq Shah have been nominated as candidates for nazim and naib nazim slots and there is no adjustment with any group.

Qasim Baloch and Malik Mohammad Khan will file papers for nazim’s slot in Lyari Town and Nasir Karim Baloch and Abdullah Rahim Baloch for naib nazim’s slot. A final decision about the candidates would be taken later.
