Azlan grabs squash title

KARACHI, Sept 11: Malaysia’s Mohammed Azlan Iskandar justified his top billing with a fluent straight game victory over Shahier Razik of Egypt to claim the Kolkata International squash championship title on Saturday.

According to the details, top seed Azlan who earlier thrashed Pakistan’s Khayal Muhammad in the semifinal, gave another outstanding display of quality squash to outplay his rival 11-6, 11-7 and 11-3 in the final to be richer by US$3,068 at the Calcutta Racket Club.

The third seeded Egyptian failed to match the reflexes of the fleet-footed Azlan who let loose a rich array of strokes and improvised constantly to close the match in 54 minutes.—PPI
