Filly Eid outclasses rivals to win feature event
LAHORE, Sept 11: Three-year-old bay filly, Eid, owned by Malik Hamid Ali Noon and trained by Haji Fazal Hadi won the September Cup run over 1100m during the Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse in floodlights on Sunday. Ridden by jockey M. Hanif the filly from Putra out-of-Naseeba, Eid burst from the pack in the home stretch and won by two lengths from fast finishing Puma The Great.
Native Force and High Dream completed the frame among fourteen runners.
The blue-roan gelding, Lucky Mayla, who ran off the board in his outing on Sunday last showed a much improved performance to win the September Plate, a class IV division II handicap race, as he won to his liking, defeating Zardan by two lengths.
Fancied Royal Command finished third, another two lengths back, while Royal Fantasy completed the board among six runners. The handling of Royal Command by jockey M. Hanif left much to be desired.
Jockeys Azam Hussain and M. Hanif shared the riding honours when each brought home a brace of winners when a card of seven races was gone through.
The last three races were held under floodlights. Only three well-backed horses won in a card of seven races.
All events were contested over the sprinting distance of 1100 metres.
