PPP MPA, activist re-arrested

OKARA, Sept 11: B-Division police again arrested PPP district president and MPA Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sohna and an activist in another case under 16 MPO registered in 2004. While 11 other PPP activists had already been granted bails on Saturday by a local court.

Leaders of all opposition parties along with their activists gathered outside the Press Club and protested against the re-arrest of the MPA and activist Muhammad Azam Khan in a fabricated case.

They threatened to stage a series of sits-in from Monday (today) if the arrested MPA and the activist were not released immediately.

MMA district president Capt Dr Liaquat Ali Kausar (retired), JI district amir Sheikh Azhar Mehmood, JUI (F)’s Syed Ameer Husain Gilani, PYO divisional president Izharul Haq Toor advocate, PPP senior figure and former provincial minister Haji Muhammad Yar Khan Lashari and Markazi Anjuman-i-Tajran president Sheikh Muhammad Saeed were among the protesters.
