President leaves for NY today

ISLAMABAD, Sept 10: President Gen Pervez Musharraf who is all set to leave for New York on Sunday will have an extremely busy schedule there and would visit the US Centcom Headquarters in Tampa, Florida on his way back to Pakistan.

The president is scheduled to arrive in New York on Monday and will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri.

A formal announcement about the president’s visit to the US and his engagements there made by the Foreign Office on Saturday said: The president will visit New York from Sept 12 to attend the Summit of the world leaders on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the UN, taking place on Sept 14 to 16.

During his stay in New York the president will attend and address a host of back-to-back meetings and functions which include an address to the American Jewish Congress on Sept 17.

KASURI: Foreign Minister Mehmood Kasuri who will be assisting the president in various meetings will stay on after the latter’s departure from New York for important official engagements there.
