QUETTA, Sept 10: Police did not allow establishment of hunger strike camps at two places in the city to foil protest against the detention of Ali Asghar Bangulzai. A Balochistan National Party (Mengal) Senator criticized the police action and said that the government was denying people their democratic right to express their sentiments on the detention.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Nasrullah Khan, chairman Ali Asghar Release Committee, said that police refused to allow them to establish hunger strike camps at Meezan Chowk and Arbab Karam Khan Road.

Meanwhile, BNP-M Senator Sanaullah Baloch, speaking at a protest rally outside the press club, denounced police for not allowing the protestors to establish strike camps.

He claimed that six children of Mr Bangulzai were observing a token hunger strike daily over the past two months to demand release of their father but the government had not paid heed to the protest.

Senator Baloch called on the government to either release the political detainees, including Mr Bangulzai, or produce them in courts to prove charges against them.
